happy new year

Happy New Year! I'm sure lot of people are saying this too, but can't believe it's already 2011!

To start off the new year, I'm fasting this week...liquid fast to be more specific...nothing but liquid. There was some conversation on whether milkshakes or smoothies are considered liquid, but it was decided that they were not. :)

When I was preparing for the fast, I must admit that, in the beginning, I was very cocky. I thought "3 days will be a breeze." Then, Monday came, and I thought "oh no! 2 more days to go!" I'm on my 3rd day and I must say, it has gotten lot easier and I think I can continue on for the rest of the week!

I never considered myself a foodie..I'm a eat to live person. Yet, even for me, when I couldn't eat, so much of my thoughts were on food! All of a sudden, I would be thinking of salt-baked squid or everyone in the office would offer me food! So much of my day is spent on thinking of what next meal to eat or what looks good to eat or what new places I want to try next...

With that being "stripped" away, I see how much I am dependent on the things that God has provided me. This week, not being so caught up on what to eat or not, I have been able to spend such wonderful time with God. I'm finishing books, having daily devotions, communicating with God more often...it's been a beautiful week filled with awareness and revelations...who knew how much fasting could bring out of you?

"It is written: "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God'" (Matthew 4:4)

kids do the darnest thing...

While vacationing in Wisconsin (yes, you read that correctly...Wisconsin...America's Dairyland), I was in the car with my girlfriend and her daughter, H, my goddaughter, who is 6 years old.

H decides to take my ipod and starts listening to music. Then, in the corner of my eyes, I notice that she raises both of her arms.

Me: H, why are you raising your arms?
H: Because the lady told me.
Me: What lady?
H: The singing lady...

I take a look to see who she's listening to and it's Beyonce singing "Single Ladies"

"all the single ladies/now put your hands up"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...wish I had filmed it and put it on youtube...

pet peeves

i was talking to someone today about pet peeves. so, in honor of things that get on my nerves, here are some of my pet peeves:

  • people who drive slow on the left lane (that's what right lanes were created for!)
  • people who shake their legs when sitting next to me
  • people who chew loudly with their mouths
  • people who talk loudly on the train esp. in the morning when all i need is some peace and quiet
  • people who talk LOUDLY and SLOWLY to me because they assume i can't speak english (i no speak korean...i speak engrish!)

so...what are some of YOUR pet peeves?

Why does love always feel like a battlefield?

movie:

Subtle yet funny view at different types of families.

Great acting and plot.

John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph are superb!

It is down to the Top 6!

I love this show even...

Mary's HOT TAMALE train and loud, screeching scream!

book:

I know some people had issues with how God was portrayed.

I found it interesting and made me question as to how I view God

Whether you agree or not, it's worth the read.

forgotten city...NO MORE...

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
